Position summary:
To prepare exteriors of vessels, to make ready for topcoat from beginning stages to a quality finished state dealing with different substrates.
Required Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Correctly identify fillers, resins, paints & their compatibility
Identify prep & correct disturbed surfaces on aluminum, fiberglass & steel.
Identify the Substrate in the following materials; aluminum, steel & fiberglass.
Perform small tent construction & successfully perform a shoot containing all over spray
Perform various primer applications including milspec, high build, 545 within specs.
Successfully apply finish coat on small parts meeting all mils & paint specs.
Successfully determine application thickness using mil gauge
Successfully prep & prime small parts
Alwgrip / DuPont Training & Certification
Determine Coating Build up on raw wood & finish wood surface
Perform Surface Preparation using proper cleaning/surface prep
Successfully correct imperfections & repair damage on wood
Determine & apply final coat meeting quality/application guides
Perform quality small non-skid application <100 sqft
Successfully brush apply stripes on yachts
Successfully perform fairing on small areas <100 sqft
Successfully perform small paint blends <100 sqft
Overtime, nights and weekend work may be required as customer service needs fluctuate.
Demonstrate knowledge of Basic Fiberglass principles
Demonstrate knowledge of Product by selecting/applying product
Demonstrate proper Block Sanding method on raw wood/finish wood
Demonstrate proper Brush Application & Technique using varnish
Demonstrate proper Stripping method on exterior finished wood
Demonstrate proper Gloss & Satin Finishes Application & Technique
Demonstrate proper Spray Application & Technique
Demonstrate proper Staining & Matching Application & Technique
Ability to easily adapt to change

Qualifications:
Experience, Certificates and Education:
4-5 years verifiable experience in a marine paint position
High School Diploma or GED, preferred
Vocational/Technical/Business School, preferred
Physical Requirements:
The ability to stoop, crouch, pull, push, reach, hear, near vision, kneel, talk, stand, grasp, walk and lift up to 50 lbs are required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any
